Homemade natural household items

It all started one night when I was giving Chichi a bath.

I flipped her over to wash her back (in your typical froggy position), next thing I knew, she was spitting water out of her mouth because I’d accidentally dipped her too low.

Guilt. Guilt of the very worst kind

What had I done? I immediately flipped her over to check if she was okay. She looked at me with her adorable baby eyes (not crying, thankfully), as if to say “that’s not nice, mommy!”

I finished her bath, and started worrying. Is there something that might be in the bath water that might harm her? I looked over the ingredients at the back of my soap bottle…hmm…I could only recognize half the ingredients on there.

In the days that followed, I checked her diaper for any signs of diarrhea. Thankfully, there was none.  She’s perfectly happy, as if nothing had ever happened. It’s a good thing she won’t remember this when she grows up.

I began to think perhaps I should switch her soaps to a more natural soap. Then, it occured to me that I could probably use breastmilk to make some soap, turns out, you can!

Luckily, I know someone who makes all natural soap and she can make some breast milk soap for me. So excited! I will post results here once they are finished in a few weeks.

I also read about making your own diaper rash cream. What really annoyed me with regular diaper rash cream is that they get in my fingernails after every use. I wish they came in a stick form!  They seem super easy to make, just need some beeswax, oil and zinc oxide.  I will begin to make this myself. Should be interesting!
